*Please respond with Resume & Contact details of the consultant to: [email protected] <[email protected]> ASAP* *Position: Senior Network Engineer* *Location: Dallas, TX* *Duration: 3+ months contract* * Job Title: IT - Senior Network Administrator* Job Description: The Senior Network Engineer will provide strategic level technical support in the areas of network strategy and design definition, routing and switching modeling, network architecture, physical network design, network test and development standards, network and data security practices, network performance and sizing planning, network and systems management standards, and network strategy around service delivery. Senior Network Engineer will collaborate with project management, software development, test, production support teams, and business end users to ensure effective and accurate implementation of networking and telecommunication standards, during the development lifecycle. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Describe the essential functions for which the Job is accountable. Essential Functions are those which are specific and unique to this position and when removed changes the nature of the job itself. • Responsible for company’s internal and client data communication architecture, LAN, WAN and network services integration. • Formulation of Network and Telecom design recommendations. • Provide technology evaluation and introduction, design guidelines and standards. • Provide Technology comparisons and recommend solutions based upon best practices. • Support current Nationstar Mortgage Network infrastructure. • Formulation of long-term Network Technology and services plan introductions. • Present alternatives that are meaningful to the business, articulate recommendations in terms that will resonate with non-technical audience, while capable of rationalizing proposals to a highly technical audience. • Capturing and tracking functional network requirements across the organization and business units. • Evaluating emerging network technology and industry trends, in an effort to anticipate future customer requirements. • Optimizing existing network infrastructure for scalability, availability and fault-tolerance. • Refining the process for gathering key network and telecom performance metrics, and assessing the validity and relevance of current metrics. • Reviewing and shaping network engineering project plans to ensure proper fit within overall architectural plan. • Evaluate new hardware and software technology as it applies to information security. List any special certifications, licenses, and/or knowledge requirements for this job: • CCNA certification is required. • CCDA, CCNP, CCIE certifications are preferred. *How many years of directly related job experience are required to be qualified to enter the job?* • 5 - 7 years in designing, implementing and operating of large enterprise internal and external data communication systems, including LANs and WANs. • 3+ years as a senior engineer in complex enterprise environment. • Ability to quickly learn / interpret / evaluate potential benefits of emerging technologies. • Significant senior level design experience for a telecommunications infrastructure, Cisco products and related security configurations. Must be able to demonstrate master-level technical knowledge in all of the following areas: Planning & Designing • Complete mastery of differences and functionality of various LAN technologies • Complete mastery of basic routing protocols, Specifically EIGRP and BGP • Complete mastery with design and best practices with Access lists • Complete mastery with telecommunication carrier technologies such as DS-1, DS-3, OC-3. OC-12, and Gigabit Ethernet. Technology • Mastery of network communications using layered models • Mastery of the Spanning Tree process • Mastery of key characteristics of LAN environments • Mastery of all characteristics of routing protocols • Mastery of the TCP/IP communication process and its associated protocols • Mastery of all components of modern network devices • Mastery of all characteristics of modern WAN Technologies Security • Mastery of differences in Firewall Architecture • Mastery of functionality and operation of a Security Policy • Mastery of common Internet related attacks • Mastery of Network Address Translation • Complete familiarity with IPSEC tunnels • Complete familiarity with content based security rules • General familiarity with IDS setup, design, and configuration. • Experience with multiple firewall implementations and log consolidation • Specialized • Must have demonstrated experience and detailed understanding of Routing Protocols (e.g. RIP v2, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP4, etc). Knowledge of switched ethernet and VLAN technologies, 802.1d spanning-tree, EtherChannel, VTP, 802.1q, and ISL. QoS, CoS, policy based routing, traffic classification / segregation is a must. • All candidates must have experience with configuration and troubleshooting Cisco families of products (e.g. Nexus 2k – 7k, Cisco 7000-2000, Catalyst 6000/5000/4000, CSS 11000, VPN Concentrators, AS5400, AP1xxx, etc.). • Must have demonstrated experience with very complex network topologies. Capacity planning / dimensioning, appropriate technology selection / provisioning. Must have experience with at least Frame Relay, ATM, SONET, MPLS, private IP, and VPN networks. Knowledge and hands on experience with most common layer 1 technologies (e.g. OC-X, DS3/T1 and fractional, ISDN/PRI/BRI). • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with Network Analyzers. Tools required are Network General Sniffers, CiscoWorks2000, Sniffer Pro, ProactiveNet, etc. • Knowledge of network management components and applications. • Understanding of network and information security and compliance. • Provides oversight and quality assurance management of network integration processes and procedures to ensure network infrastructure integrity, security and quality. • Contributes to system development and deployment activities to ensure that network design concerns are addressed. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Knowledge of business processes and their interrelationships is desired.
