- Deep understanding of Oracle 10g and 11g Enterprise Edition Database
architecture and concepts
- Ability to design and implement a new AFC data retention and purging
strategy in concert with software vendor and DBAs
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle memory, process, storage, configuration,
and resource management, and general instance tuning
- Expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting database and application
environments for performance, reliability, availability, capacity, and
recoverability
- Understanding of Oracle transaction processing, locking and latching,
and logging
- Understanding of parallel processing and partitioning concepts
- Deep understanding of indexing and joining strategies
- Experience with Oracle single-instance, RAC One Node, and RAC
installations
- Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard
- Knowledge of data warehouse designs and implementations
- Expertise in constructing and maintaining data systems to ensure
efficient data access and usage, security (permission and access), and
protection of the data
- Expertise in SQL tuning, Plan Management, and manual query optimization
- Extensive experience in extracting and analyzing SQL plans and
execution statistics
- Experience in writing and tuning highly-performant SQL code for
database access, modifications, and constructions
- Expertise in interpreting and creatively using AWRs, ASH reports, and
dynamic performance and history views to tune instances, schemas, and SQL
code
- Extensive experience with SQL and PL/SQL coding best practices,
including the use of subqueries, subquery factoring, analytic functions,
etc.
- Application/Database development experience
- Experience with production support, resolving database performance
issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data
issues
- Possesses strong analytical and organizational skills
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to produce and provide detailed, understandable
documentation, including infrastructure, schema, and data flow diagrams
- Ability to engage in knowledge transfer with developers,
administrators, and other interested parties
- Ability to collaborate with the data stewards to ensure policies,
definitions, and rules reflect attributes based on industry best practices
and customer based business requirements
- Ability to perform data integrity and quality audits, developing
database administration policies and procedures as needed
- Experience with change management processes
- Ability to provide after-hours and emergency support
- Preferred but not required:
- Experience in a Payment Card Industry – Data Security Standards
(PCI-DSS) 3.0 environment
- Knowledge of Oracle Database Appliances and various Oracle products
such as GoldenGate
- Knowledge of Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
