GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: · Participate in small agile teams developing and delivering a unified and comprehensive digital platform serving multiple lines of business, products, markets, and geographies. · Develop RESTful services, customer facing web application and platform SDKs. · Deliver scalable and fault tolerant applications and services that can meet exacting service level and operational requirements. · Participate in *agile* activities including planning sessions, story grooming, story estimations and tasking. · Engage with peers across the organization on integrations between the platform and other client enterprise services such as product data, order management, identity, and analytics. · Assist in acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as required. · Ensure that development efforts exemplify Scholastic's engineering and quality best practices. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: · Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and scaling web services and applications. · Working knowledge of service oriented architectures and *RESTful APIs*. · Deep knowledge of the contemporary Java ecosystem, tooling, and best practices. · Working knowledge of data persistence and distribution strategies and implementations. · Experience in data persistence using *Hibernate/JPA*. · Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Security is preferred. · Experience designing software and systems that can operate efficiently and effectively in highly dynamic, highly automated, on-demand infrastructures, such as Amazon Web Services. · Experience developing highly fault-tolerant systems that can meet exacting service level and operational requirements. · Full stack development with intermediate level knowledge of Angular JS a plus. · Experience writing unit and integration tests required. TDD and ATDD experience a strong plus. · Experience with Single Sign On integrations a plus · Ed Tech experience a plus. · Experience with CI/CD processes utilizing Jenkins and cloud infrastructures a plus. · Must possess excellent problem solving skills, analytical abilities, and the ability to express ideas clearly in writing and in speech. · Must be able work effectively with colleagues, both technical and non-technical. · Must be intellectually curious, motivated, and demonstrate a desire for excellence. · BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience and portfolio.
