*Oracle Big Data DBA Herndon VA 6-12+ Months Contract JOB DESCRIPTION: *Responsible for day-to-day support of Oracle, MS SQL Server databases and other Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and applications on a 24x7 basis. Serves as a member of the Network Operations team working closely with developers, Quality Assurance (QA), and other business partners to deploy mission critical systems. Works with the business units to provide the implementation of database strategies, performance improvements, optimization, and problem analysis. Participates in developing and designing global database strategies, database policies, standards, and procedures. Keeps records of maintenance activities and system performance. Works on portions of the database carrying both proprietary and non-public personal information. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: **Handle day-to-day database administration including: *Space allocation and management, build schema, optimization, backup, and recovery *DB instance performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning *Standards identification and compliance *New product/release evaluation and support *Implementing & supporting Enterprise-level ORACLE solutions for both our Corporate & remote data centers *Providing guidance on developing industry standard applications using ORACLE 11g and 12c RAC databases *Performing routine maintenance on database servers, related services and security *Architecting, deploying, and maintaining a database environment with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security. *Develop database documentation, including diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures, and work instructions *QUALIFICATIONS:* *Demonstrable expertise in Oracle Database Administration (11g/12c and RAC) *Hadoop experience required *Must have experience in Big Data Processing specifically preferably with Oracle Big Data Appliance (Cloudera Enterprise, Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Kafka, Flink, HDFS, Hue, Sqoop, ODI, Golden Gate) *Network Attached Storage, Network Security, Veritas, Shell Script *Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
