Under immediate supervision, learns technical nuances of a complex computer
environment, performs file system maintenance & tuning, assists with system
tuning, performs software installation & deployment, assists with system
software & hardware analysis to maximize computer response time &
performance of department’s computer systems & make recommendations to
management; uses automated scheduling software (e.g., Control-M) to
administer production computer runs & assure system resources; provides
support & technical assistance in order to resolve difficult problems
interfacing as needed with programmer or systems analysts, system
programmers, database analysts, & other departmental staff; acts as liaison
with user groups & vendors; works in conjunction with Office of Information
Technology (OIT) to support installation & testing software; supports
implementation & customization for Software Configuration & Library Manager
(SCLM), Control Products (e.g., Control D, Control B), SMS, CICS, Database
Software, MQ Series, IMS; participates with team in development,
evaluation, testing, installation & maintenance of third-party software
products; attends meetings & provides detailed information to management;
prepares project/test plans according to Ohio Department of Job & Family
Services (ODJFS) policies & procedures; provides regular reports to
management regarding project & system status.



Assists programming & production control personnel in use of newly
installed & subsequently enhanced software packages; interprets system
dumps & error messages & determines resolutions; utilizes Time Sharing
Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF) Dialogue
Management, REXX & CLIST in administering & developing new programs &
applications; develops utilities & interfaces for programming/user staff;
codes exits & system software interface modules using high level macro
languages; maintains high level of proficiency with Job Control Language
(JCL) & BMC Control Products software suite; tunes & evaluates Virtual
Storage Access Method (VSAM) files; restores systems after software or
hardware failures; maintains knowledge of the relationships of the Network
to computer systems Virtual Telecommunication Access Method (VTAM), to
z/OS, online to operating systems; supports business continuity activities.



Provides training & documentation to systems users; Adheres to ODJFS
programming standards; researched technical computer manuals; attends
meetings, seminars & training classes; performs other duties as assigned
(e.g., prepares written status reports, attend &/or facilitates staff/team
meetings.
