May supervise lower level administrators acting as a team lead or checking others' work. May be responsible for training new team members. Typically reports to a department manager or project manager. Installs hardware and software, conducts system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software and security related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains user accounts, data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Ensures network service is available to customers which includes: backup and recovery system; hardware/software maintenance; installation/upgrade, monitoring, testing; troubleshooting and repair; LAN-based application and Ethernet technology; network faults and connectivity issues; and routers, firewalls and switches. Conducts informal training, maintains documentation, and provides front line support for IT related problems.
