*ROLE: Cognos Specialist with ETL*
* *
*Key Responsibilities*:
Ø Provide the overall architectural foundation for development,
implementation and operation for data reporting, modeling, and analysis of a
data warehouse
for institutional data.
Ø *Design, develop and debug ETL and related applications using ETL tool
and Oracle PL/SQL*
Ø Develop standards and techniques to support advanced drill down
capabilities
Ø Function as an *administrator of the Cognos environment* and ensure
acceptable performance.
Ø Collaborate with the business analysts in the creation of the logical
design and with the database administrators in the implementation of
physical designs.
Ø Establish practices to ensure data quality and perform quality reviews of
data models.
Ø Responsible for the *complete range of BI capabilities: reporting,
analysis, score carding, dashboards and business event management*
Ø Help build and develop the internal support organization including people
development, training, mentoring and administration
Ø Coach in the writing of reports and general use
Ø *Mentor members of the WV DHHR Warehouse team*
Ø Knowledge transfer of all aspects of the implementation
*Required Skills:*
Ø Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an
accredited institution or equivalent work experience required.
Ø *Minimum of 5 years experience using the Cognos suite of components
including metadata Modeler and Report Developer *
* **Specifically ReportNet/Cognos 8 Framework Manager, Query Studio,
Report Studio and Analysis Studio.*
Ø 5* year's exp with relational databases (Oracle required and DB2
experience is a plus).*
*Ø At least 3 years experience with Oracle Warehouse Builder*
Ø Previous experience in requirements gathering, process and data analysis
Ø Proven *history of working with various modeling techniques, data flow
diagrams and workflow diagrams*.
Ø Experience *installing, configuring and maintaining a Cognos server
environment*
Ø Excellent communication skills (written/oral) and strong analytical and
technical skills
Ø Ability to communicate business needs to technical people and to
communicate and simplify complex technical information for non-technical
people.
