Implementing SAS projects (standing up hardware, environment integration, DI, web reporting, and SAS Administration). In fact, general duties below are going to center around a SAS application deployment, negotiating/communicating needs with the vendor (SAS), and integrating internal applications with SAS *General Job Description*** *Role Summary*** - Create architectures including articulating the architectural vision, conceptualizing and experimenting with alternative architectural approaches - Creating models and component and interface specification documents and validating the architecture against requirements and assumptions - Accountable for developing a consistent framework for future client technology decisions - Accountable for understanding and linking business architecture with the technical architecture for the enterprise - Technical Architects bridge the gaps between business and technology and deliver a “blueprint” for developing the enterprise technical structure - Technical Architects provide senior level expertise as it relates to decision-making and priorities for the enterprise technical architecture - The enterprise depends upon this position to have extensive knowledge of technology trends in order to support current and future enterprise opportunities. Major Work Accountabilities/Description - Establish/Maintain Networks – - Develops and maintains internal and external professional networks to track strategy, governance and organization effectiveness trends and issues. - Influences industry accepted standards. - Establishes strategic relations with key technology vendors in order to influence changes in future product releases. Interacts with a wide range of technical and healthcare industry contacts. - Conduct Research – - Researches and benchmarks best practices and/or products in the area of technology. - Routinely gathers and assesses changing client business needs. - Analyzes and modifies enterprise technology strategy and architecture. - Analyzes how business processes interact with technology to create value for the business. - Studies core technologies and infrastructure. Maintains knowledge of technology, trends, and standards. - Provides input to the content of Requests for Information/Proposal (RFI/P) around the client’s technology architecture requirements and guiding principles. Conducts trend analyses to track emerging industry trends and technologies. - Design Architecture – - Creates architectural design (client accepted technology products, configurations, standards, processes, policies, etc.) for using technology assets in the company. - Provides/sets direction around architecture for the organization. - Assures that a workable, understandable and agreed upon approach for acquiring and utilizing technology is available and used. - Seeks approval for designs from appropriate approval bodies. - Evaluates and factors in the cost-benefit for each proposed design or changes to design. - Designs and leads the implementation of an enterprise-wide technical architecture based on enterprise business requirement needs. - Facilitates the development of standardized procedures to provide a common process to integrate the deployment of new tools, techniques and technologies to existing IT processes. - Influences the prioritization of initiatives outlined in the migration plan (what components to tackle first or architectural trade-offs to make to progress toward the end state). - Analyzes current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement. - - Develop and Maintain Standards Documentation – - Develops and documents the principles and frameworks that guide factory or functional area architecture decisions and comply, influence, support and enhance the principles/frameworks for enterprise architecture decisions. - Develops, supports, and maintains the architecture process. - Facilitates the development of enterprise governance in collaboration with business and technical leadership. - Documents all technical architecture design and analysis work. - Communicate Standards and Educate – - Presents architecture designs to appropriate architectural approval bodies. Obtains “sign-off” for designs. - Develops, maintains and educates the corporation and facilitates adherence to enterprise architecture and standards. - Communicates/educates on architecture to business and technical leadership. - Accountable for increasing the company’s understanding of architecture, standards and associated procedures. - Consult on Architecture Design – - Provides architectural consultation to the organization. - "Sells" the architecture process, its outcome and ongoing results.
