Job Title: DB2 Database Administrator Position Type: Contract - W2 Work Authorization: US Citizen / Green Card / EAD / TN Location: Suwanee GA Duration: 5 Months Pay Rate / Rate Cap: Market Start Date: 05-Jan-09 Project Details: . Need resource to pro-actively automate routine DBA tasks; research and develop backup and recovery solutions; maintain detailed documentation of database standards and procedures; and research and certify new technologies. . Especially important is experience and skill in: Physical design, patch application, version upgrades, backup and recovery, database cloning, optimization, and capacity planning. Responsibilities: . The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of database administration in both application and production environments. . Develop and maintain clear and concise documentation in support of database standards and best practices. . Analyze and develop internal DBA projects. . Procure and maintain database software and related tools. . Monitor and maintain security of databases and database software in cooperation with security framework personnel and systems administrators. . Maintain development, test and production database environments. . Monitor the databases and optimize database performance. . Maintain availability and integrity of databases, including referential integrity checking. . Assisting systems administrators with installing database software and applying fixes when necessary. . Monitor and manage database backups and restorations. . Perform both version and roll-forward recovery. . Monitor and manage data replication. Required Skills: . Strong UDB DB2 DBA experience (4-5 years) for managing enterprise databases on an IBM AIX environment. . Must have DB2 LUW 8.x, AIX 5.3 and PeopleSoft experience. . Excellent communication skills required as a liaison with management; for support of database customers; for partnering with other IT professionals; and for working with database software vendors.
