JOB FUNCTION OU IT Oracle Database Developers provide relational database expertise and support to administrative, academic and research departments across campus and the surrounding community. We strive to sustain a high level of customer service, build relationships with customers through daily contact, and exceed expectations of both internal and external customers. Essential Job Duties Include: - Developing, testing, and deploying stored procedures or other software components written in PL/SQL or Java. - Tune individual SQL statements. - Research application performance issues and report findings to users, development staff, team leaders and project managers. - Troubleshoot errors or problems in program code. - Write and maintain script processes in Pearl or UNIX shell scripting for file brokering and data loading. - Provide technical leadership on projects as needed. - Maintains thorough knowledge of current technology trends and advancements through self learning or scheduled classroom training. - Participates in the IT mentoring program as both a mentor and mentoree. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or a degree with extensive computer related course work OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience. 36 months significant experience developing, testing and deploying software components such as Oracle stored procedures written in PL/SQL or Java. 36 months experience working with Oracle 9i or 10g, SQL, Solaris 8 or 9, and LINUX. Proficient with data migration and integration techniques, Perl programming, and scripting. Must have experience with Banner, Oracle Forms and Luminis portal development would be a plus. Required Skills and Proficiencies: Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to diagnose problems that encompass all aspects of system failures and performance issues. A high level of communication skills are needed to support and interact with internal and external customers. Good organization skills with the ability to exercise discretion and ingenuity to determine the proper course of action while following established standards. Must demonstrate a high level of character including values such as generosity, respect, and enthusiasm. Must be adaptable, consistently seeking growth and knowledge. Department Preferences: Current Oracle Certified Professional or recent completion of Oracle course work.
