Role: Systems Analyst Sr (Statistician)
Location: Detroit, MI
Rate : $42/hr ( Max –no negotiation)
Desired Start Date: 3/23/2009
Estimated End Date: 8/31/2009 (could possibly turn into a permanent
position depending on the skills and qualifications the resource is
able to support during the assignment)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Engages in the development of mathematical theory or application of
statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and
summarize numerical data to provide usable information. Compiles
reports, charts, and tables based on established statistical methods.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and
procedures. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and
direct the work of others.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
* 5-8 years of directly related experience in the field.
* Experienced and proficient in regression model building, cluster
analysis (e.g. CART, CHAID, Two-Step, etc), discriminant analysis, and
SAS
* Compiles reports, charts, and tables based on established
statistical methods
* Able to make defendable predictions on future outcomes based on
sound statistical analysis
* Able to process and analyze the data in context, looking for
patterns to help make decisions
* Understands the theories on which statistical techniques are
based.
* Experienced in planning ways to collect targeted information,
drawing on knowledge of probability and sampling.
* Experienced in developing questionnaires that yield clear
answers and useful information
* Able to translate a business discussion into business
requirements using formal techniques
* Can effectively identify and/or analyze business problems
* Experienced in operational analysis, data analysis and problem
resolution type activities
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
* Knowledge of health care data
* Understanding of databases
* Cognos
* Web Analytics Tools
GENERAL SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
* 5 – 8 years of direct experience related to statistical analysis
and related disciplines
* Excellent written, verbal communication skills including active
listening
* Independent worker focused on delivery quality work products on
time
* Burning desire to wade in the data, every day
EDUCATION
* Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, mathematics or economics
required.
* Masters Degree preferred
