Agnihotri, Ambassador-at-large for NRIs & PIOs (Global). Dr. Agnihotri will speak on the topic, "Indo-Us Relations: Role of NRIs." The meeting is scheduled on Sunday, November 30, 2003, at 11:30 AM at India House Restaurant & Banquets, 1521 West Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, IL. India, the largest democracy in the world, is moving ahead fast with growing economy and social reforms. Experts have predicted that the 21st century is going to be influenced by Asian countries, and particularly by India. The Pre! sident of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam has envisioned that India would become a superpower by 2020. The USA has been influential in setting up the world order that we have today. It is obvious that these two countries have a significant role to play in the future. Realizing the tremendous standing and importance of Indians settled abroad, the Government of India created a special position of Ambassador-at-large for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) worldwide. Dr. Agnihotri was appointed as the first ever Ambassador-at-large for NRIs/PIOs (Global). Dr. Agnihotri is an expert in law. He has worked closely with Legislative, Executive, and Judicial sectors of the USA at all levels for more than 25 years. He has been involved in numerous organizations in leadership roles, and has many awards and honors to his credit, including the 'Israel Peace Award' in 1996 and the 'Humanitarian Award' in 1997. He has been working tireless! ly, undertaking many programmes and activities, to achieve the goal of 'Global Indian Family,' connecting NRIs and PIOs back to India in its growth and development. Dr. Agnihotri's presentation will also cover key topics, such as - * Indo-American relations: past and present * Future directions of Indo-American relations * Dynamics driving the Indo-American relations * The role that the NRIs can play to further cement the Indo-American relations The presentation will be followed by a question-answer session. This meeting is a unique opportunity to discuss how India and USA can effectively collaborate in the process of building up a just and peaceful world order.
