AAJA-Chicago presents two summer internships: one at a Chicago TV station, one
at the Chicago Sun-Times. Deadline is Feb. 20 for both internships.

2004 Linda Yu Broadcast News Internship
Named in honor of AAJA-Chicago chapter co-founder and WLS-TV anchor Linda Yu,
this unique scholarship is awarded annually to an aspiring broadcast
journalist.

The winner receives a $2000 stipend and is assigned to a 10-12 week summer
internship at one of Chicago's television stations. If your goal is to enhance
and further your broadcast career, this is an opportunity to work in the
third-largest market. College and graduate students interested in anchoring,
reporting, producing, directing, shooting and/or editing are encouraged to
apply.

2004 David Ibata Print Internship

Named in honor of AAJA-Chicago co-founder and Chicago Tribune editor David
Ibata, this newspaper internship is awarded annually to an aspiring journalist.
This year's paid summer internship will be held at the Chicago Sun-Times (daily
circulation 491,795), one of the biggest metro papers in the country.

The internship's co-sponsors, AAJA and the Sun-Times, are looking for an
enthusiastic candidate who can handle deadline pressure and tough editors. The
10-week program for a metro reporting position will give you! the chance to work
with top journalists in one of the biggest news town's in the country. The
stipend is $500 a week.

Recent college grads and sophomores, juniors, and seniors with daily journalism
experience at either a student or daily newspaper are encouraged
to apply. Being a Chicago native and owning a car are a plus, but not
necessary.

Interested applicants should prepare:
- A Cover letter
- A Resume
- A 350-word essay on why you want to be a journalist
- 5 to 10 clips
