I certainly think as not intellectual the black and white categorization of people into Right, left or center. We have legs and we all tend to move around a bit.
Just don't suffocate the "Right" from moving to the "Center" or to the "Left" ;-)
Ms. Thapar, consciously or unconsciously, wandered into the idea of Analyzing the fundamentalist Barbarian and his "Big Reasons," etc.
It's high time "Intellectuals" stop visualizing the world as balck and white(as the Americans tend to do)-- where intellectuals feed and breed left and right wings, by characterizing people as Intellectuals, rightists, centerists or leftists-- but as a colorful and complex media that moves around.
If not, even Ms. Thapar can be a fundamentalist of a "certain" type.
A fundamentalist is a person of inflexibility. If we start describing people, as Ms. Thapar did with Mr. Advani, we become not intellectauls, but fundamentalists!
