Dear all,

This is notification that I have removed Rahul from the list serv. I'm afraid this
was a decision made by me and a few other SAPAC members. We are going to put together
a set of rules for the list serv. We'd welcome any input from the larger community
for what these rules should and shouldn't look like. Please post these suggestions to
me individually. In the meantime I'm going to take the liberty of removing any member
who posts more than two postings in a day or members who's posting includes name
calling.

Rahul,

You're quite right, progressive thinking includes looking critically at one's own
community. That's why your dig at Sapna for being a Hindu girl critical of Hindutva
is pretty out of place. As you seem to have determined from my name, yes, I am of
Muslim descent. Which is why I have always insisted that SAPAC address religious,
class, and ethnically based violence throughout South Asia not just in India. It is
also why I am proud to have as my friend the many Hindu's in SAPAC who are committed
to working actively to combat the violence against minorities being propogated by
Hindutva.

Nilofer

Subject: Progressive thinking: Let's debate !

My understanding of progressive thinking is each looking critically at their
own respective communities and help reform/tune to the times and places.

But the idea of wannabe-Great-Hindus, Muslims, christians et al talking as
if there's only one evil in the entire world--Hindutva--is laughable and
replete with hypocrisy!

If the same spectre of world protest was shown to Saddam Hussein as was seen
prior to the Iraq war, the world would have been much saner and safer.

Somehow Progressive thinking has become synonymous with fundamentalism of a
certain kind: They have an inflexible mindset and thinking pattern, and are
not open to debate in spirit of "true progress."

I must admit; I am not as good as Nilofer or Sapna in "effective writing"
and I am here to learn a bit on that front.

Rahul
