Dr. Ram Puniyani is a dedicated humanist devoted to promoting communal harmony and social justice in India.  He has been associated with many secular initiatives and has published widely on themes related to globalization and the rise of fundamentalism.  He is the author of �Communal Politics � Facts vs. Myths� �The Other Cheek � Minorities Under Threat� � �! The Second Assassination of Gandhi,� among several other books, is a member of EKTA (Committee for Communal Amity), and received the Maharashtra Foundation award for social work in 2002.  He is presently a Professor of Bio-medical Engineering at IIT, Mumbai.

 

Building Bridges works to promote principles that uphold and defend pluralism, secularism, democracy, and communal harmony among Indian communities around the world, including India and North America. www.bridgesofunderstanding.org or www.indiansunited.org.

Directions

The Darien Library (630- 887-8760) is located at 401 Plainfield Road (south-west side of the intersection of the Plainfield and Clarendon Hills Roads in Darien - a western suburb of Chicago). The library has ample free parking.

 From 294 south, take 88 west and exit for 83 south (Kingery Road) , then west (right turn from 83) onto Plainfield road, then left on Clarendon Hills road - the library is on the right side within a block.

From Chicago:  290 west, take 38 west (Roosevelt) and exit for 83 south, follow as above.

- From 55 (Stevenson), exit for 83 north (Kingery Road), within a few blocks, turn left onto 75th street, then right turn into the Clarendon Hills Road, the library is on the left 2-3 blocks after the right turn.
