MARCHING INSTRUCTIONS:

The March for Women's Lives is the first time that the mainstream organizers of the women's rights movement have agreed to expand their message from "choice" to include a reproductive justice agenda. To celebrate this change, a large contingent of individuals and groups will be marching together under the banner "Women of Color for Reproductive Justice", and we will be joining this contingent. This contingent will also include men of color marching in support of women's lives.  In order to express solidarity with the large contingent of supporters of women of color and their causes, we ask everyone to wear red, yellow or orange. Also, instead of focusing any signs or banners on "choice", please include the term "reproductive justice" in your messages to reflect the broadened agenda of this year's march. If you would like more information about the efforts to include and address the concerns of women of color, go to: http://www.marchforwomen.org/woc/.

*** Join Gitesh Pandya, DJ Rekha, Urvashi Vaid, Tanuja Desai Hidier, Mallika Dutt, Vijay Singh, and others in showing your support at http://www.saforwomen.org/ ***

At a time when women's rights are under attack, we join together as

South Asians and South Asian Americans to express our overwhelming

support for the health and reproductive rights of all women.

We believe that:

* health and reproductive rights are fundamental tenets of freedom and are central to women's equality.

* individual communities face unique barriers in exercising their rights, and therefore hope to include the voices of South Asians and South Asian Americans in the dialogue concerning women's health.

Show your support for the South Asians for Women's Lives Delegation by registering at http://www.saforwomen.org/. Your name, along with the names of fellow supporters, will be printed on a banner and carried through Washington, DC on April 25, 2004 at the most significant and massive reproductive rights march in over a decade! (See http://www.marchforwomen.org for details)

The South Asians for Women's Lives delegation seeks to bring attention to the numerous international issues that affect women's ability to exercise autonomy over their bodies and their lives, including but not limited to HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, sex education, family planning, and access to healthcare.

Given the power of substantial presence and visibility, we hope you can also march with us on this very important day in Washington DC.  Please refer to the website for information regarding travel coordinators in your area and lodging in DC.
