Speak Up! Act Up! forum

This half-day symposium on immigrant rights is directed at youth, particularly South Asian, Muslim and Arab immigrants and seeks to:

(1) Inform youth about the human rights implications of current US immigration policy both domestically and internationally with some emphasis on profiling, detention and deportation, and reproductive rights.

(2) Educate youth about the political and electoral process and how to get involved in advocating for public policy that promotes human rights values

(3) Connect youth to groups that they can become involved with on an ongoing basis to address immigrant rights issues.

The forum will feature dynamic speakers, performances by local artists, workshops that will lead to action, free food and social space.

Independence Day Peace Events

Every year SAPAC maintains a presence at the Independence day events.  This year we are planning two events—a peace float for the independence day parades and a Bhangra for Unity dance party that will bring together young people from both the Indian and Pakistani communities.
