*Database Administrator (Oracle/Sql Server) **; Central, NJ **; 6M+; Rate :
DOE ;**

Requires at least *5 years of extensive hands-on knowledge *and experience
with *BOTH* *Oracle and SQL Server databases*.
DUTIES :
- Coordinates physical changes to *Oracle and MS SQLServer databases*;
codes, tests, and implements physical databases.
- Create new database instances. Implement requested schemas
modifications. Implements logical and physical tablespace and databases
designed by architecture team.
- Database backup and restore is one of the primary responsibilities and
*RMAN *experience is a PLUS.
- Database installation, configuration, tuning, patching, security
configuration, purge logs, execute scripts for data load and increase table
space as required.
- Review description of new database requests or changes to existing
databases to understand and determine location, and amount of space.
Establishes physical database parameters. Calculates optimum values for
database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by
databases. Specifies database access levels for users.
- Codes database descriptions and specify identifiers of database or
database management system. Directs programmers and analysts to make changes
to database management system. Reviews and corrects programs.
- Tests, and corrects errors to databases. Work with outside vendors to
resolve database problems, take ownership and resolve to completion.
- Trains and answers user questions. Confers with co-workers to
determine impact of database changes on other systems in a production
environment.
- Responsible to resolve problems assigned per help desk queues.
- Tunes database programs to increase processing performance. Run
statistics and indexing as required.
- Monitor databases for operational availability and performance. Write
scripts and interface with HP OVO
Other Skills:
- Must have good people skills. The position also needs strong
interpersonal skills for handling users and customers.
- Must be available for after hours, weekends, off-hour 24 by 7 work
- Project Management skills and knowledge of *MS Project* is a plus
