Scope of Work
The Senior Engineer works with a technical lead on the development and
support of various browser-based systems and websites. The position is
primarily responsible for software design, software development,
support, software corrections, system performance analysis,
investigation of data file integrity issues, and system enhancements.
The Senior Engineer core strengths are proficiency with various
Microsoft technologies (SQL Server 2008, Microsoft .NET (C#) and Active
Reports/MS Reporting Services). The Senior Engineer must have strong
oral and written communication skills.
Description of Tasks
Application Tuning and Management – Responsible for the analysis of
current systems and applications. Including performance diagnosis,
upgrade options, software integration and pro-active maintenance.
Application Development – Responsible for developing new features or
improvements to existing features by using an agile SDLC methodology.
The Senior Engineer must be able to write requirements, create design
documents and perform all coding, testing and integration activities to
successfully deliver the end product.
Technical Support – Responsible for all aspects of system operations
and maintenance. Including performance analysis, capacity and server
utilization, diagnosis of reported issues, timely resolution of issues
and working with other team members on the integration of fixes and
roll-out plans into QA and Production environments.
Customer Care – Shared responsibility for client communication on
reported issues and status updates on planned resolution. Communication
must be timely, complete, targeted to the audience and well written.
Research and Professional Development – Responsible for staying
abreast of new technologies and trends. Must be able to suggest
recommendations on system improvements by understanding currently used
technologies and emerging technologies.
