An experienced Java developer is needed to help Petfinder rebuild a core backend administrative system that Member shelters and rescue organizations use to upload and maintain their organization and pet data. This is a critical system for Petfinder since this data drives the very popular Petfinder pet search where visitors can search the list of 300,000 adoptable pets. This position will report directly to the Director of Technology for Petfinder. *Position Responsibilities: * - Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience - 8+ years of J2EE web development experience - Proficiency with Java 5, generics, annotations, enums, etc. - Strong knowledge of MySQL, SQL and database design - Expertise with Eclipse IDE & JBoss Developer Studio. - Expertise with HTML/CSS standards and cross-browser JavaScript development - Expertise with JBoss Application Server, including application deployment and tuning - Expertise with JSF and RichFaces - Expertise with Spring Web Flow and Spring Security - Expertise with EJB 3, JPA, Hibernate, and transaction handling - Experience creating and consuming web services using Apache Axis or similar - Experience building reports with Jasper Reports, integration with JSF application. - Experience with XML parsing using both SAX and DOM parsers - Experience with Subversion version control � Experience with Perl, used by legacy application and other Petfinder systems - Experience with data migration, especially on large data sets (2.5MM records) - Design, implement, and test J2EE code for new projects and for maintenance to the existing system - Ability and eagerness to work on all aspects of enterprise application development, including requirements gathering, database architecture, web-tier design, business-tier design, unit testing, performance testing, and maintenance - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in relation to both technical and non-technical audiences - Ability to learn quickly and be self motivated - Responsible for the full application lifecycle.
