Has to breathe SQL and research independently *Job Description:* Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking an Apps Systems Engineer to work Within the Enterprise Data and Analytics Information Services organization, this position will provide technical solutions for the Marketing Decision Support Services (MDSS) load process. MDSS is a data warehouse which produces key metrics for the Community Bank including the average cross-sell per household which are reported to Wall Street each quarter. It is also the source for Consumer Householding, High Value coding, and Consumer Profit. The environment is fast-paced and challenging with monthly loads and business needs that necessitate quick issue resolution. The position is responsible for understanding problems, implementing fixes and enhancements, identifying opportunities for efficiency, bringing issues to resolution, and escalating as necessary to meet timelines. In addition, the individual must assure quality, security, and compliance requirements are met for the supported areas. MDSS is a small team which allows us to respond quickly to the needs of our users. The size of our team also requires that each person has skills that cross over into other areas. This position will require strong programming skills as well as database experience. *Qualifications * • 8+ years application development and implementation experience. • Demonstrated experience with ETL/Integration development. • Demonstrated experience with sorting, merging, and joining large volumes of data. • 3+ years of demonstrated experience with Unix and Unix Shell Scripting. • Demonstrated experience with IBM Information Server Products (DataStage/Quality Stage). • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with data warehouse concepts. • 2+ years of demonstrated SQL experience. • Knowledge of C. • Demonstrated business analysis and data analysis skills. • Experience supporting IT systems including after-hours support as necessary. • Demonstrated technical leadership skills in the area of owning processes and support for complex systems. • Demonstrated solid communication and collaboration skills. *Preferred Skills* • DataStage upgrade experience a plus. • Demonstrated experience with Perl 5.8 or later. • Experience with Teradata 13. • Demonstrated experience with Syncsort or similar tool. • Demonstrated experience with data quality assurance processes and procedures for validation. • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of scheduling software. • Demonstrated experience with Ab Initio and ETL tool migrations. • Experience with RedHat Linux and/or HPUX. • 3+ years of demonstrated experience with administrating and using software lifecycle tools to include both revision control systems and issue tracking systems.
