A qualified candidate should have a relevant 4 year degree and 5 years oil & gas industry experience. I have included the job description below for your viewing. Please contact me to further discuss the details of this opportunity. *Job Description*: • Translates business requirements into technical designs that conform to internal standards, guidelines, and policies. (And often assists in insuring the completeness and correctness of said business requirements.) • Insures that solutions are not designed “in silos” and integrate cleanly with other applicable solutions and systems. • Identifies risks and gaps with regards to implementation of systems that are not in strict adherence to corporate or local standards. • Monitors the implementation of designed solutions and insures they adhere to approved designs. This includes interacting with external/vendor development teams to guide their work. • Manages the change of designs as the reality of implementation impacts them. • Participates in alternatives analysis, especially in the process of evaluating the appropriateness and general level of quality of any solution proposed by a vendor (or in evaluating the vendor themselves). • Owns the activity of harvesting information to compile into architectural deliverables (as specified by internal standards) and serves and the primary interface into architecture review activities. • Participates in peers reviews of technical designs across all projects. *Education*: BS in computer science, engineering, and or business. *Experience*: o Multiple (5+) years in an Upstream Oil & Gas IT environment. *Preferred Skills*: • A very experienced technical person, with a rich background that crosses domains, functions, and industries. Has an extensive software development background, preferably having been in team leadership roles. o Has a deep understanding of the principles of software development, with experience in multiple environments and platforms. o Has good-to-excellent understanding of the principles of database design. o Understands the basics of modern networking, network management, security approaches, and common protocols. o Has a degree in an IT related field of study (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, etc). • Has grown comfortable in serving as the interface between the business world of requirements, functions, and workflows and the technical world of system implementation. Excels at communicating with technical and non-technical people. • Outlines solution architecture descriptions, then monitors and governs their implementation. *Certification*: *Additional Comments*: o Willing to work typical working hours in our Covington, Louisiana office. o Able to demonstrate knowledge and experience that aligns to the Overview above. o Comfortable focusing on models, analysis, design, and oversight. There is no expectation that our Solution Architects will be writing code themselves. o Possesses strong spoken and written communication skills. Comfortable having discussions with non-IT subject matter experts. o Willing and able to work in a team-driven environment. o Willing and able to make a multi-year commitment to providing these services.
