Team, a part of the Media Technologies & Strategy group, is responsible for
innovating, developing, and evangelizing cutting-edge data products and
solutions to support DATG’s mission.



Our clients, internal and external, need clear, consistent, and capable
technologies to report, visualize, and understand data; that is why we are
looking for a first-class Senior Analytics Engineer. This is a great
opportunity for a talented and creative person who is passionate about data
to join a great company competing in the next generation of media,
entertainment, and technology. To stay on the leading edge, we must develop
data technologies focusing on the entire data lifecycle; the Senior
Analytics Engineer will be heavily involved in all aspects of our
technology efforts.



By leveraging their unique technical skills, interest in solving
challenging problems, and bias for action, the Senior Analytics Engineer
will help the Data Engineering Team innovate, develop, and extend our data
products. Specifically, the Senior Analytics Engineer will be involved
across our entire data effort, including data/solution architecture, data
modeling and analysis, data integration (ETL) and front-end
reporting/analysis.

Responsibilities

•    Perform data modeling, schema design, and mapping across very large
data sets to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and efficiently available

•    Participate in data analysis, mapping, dimensional modeling, and
troubleshooting if necessary in order to maintain high quality,
well-structured, and robust data

•    Leverage data analytics tools to design and implement business
intelligence reporting and analytics solutions, such as dashboards,
reports, and ad-hoc capabilities

•    Create and develop data mining, discovery, and analytics capabilities
with custom and third-party software solutions

•    Propose architecture solutions and best practices designed for
enterprise wide projects involving massively parallel processing

•    Lead data analysis investigations focused on data quality,
availability, or reliability

•    Participate in development activities including model walkthroughs,
requirements, and gap analysis

•    Implement data access integrations and endpoints, such as RESTful
APIs, data pipes, and small-scale web applications

•    Create documentation, unit tests, samples, and other artifacts to
validate your work and to assist others using or supporting your work

•    Work closely with data architects, data integration engineers, system
engineers, and other team members to deliver the very best data analytics
products

•    Perform exploratory and quantitative analytics when required

•    Actively participate in the team’s software development lifecycle
(agile-based)

•    Assist with transitioning projects into production and troubleshooting
of problems

•    Keep your eyes open for new technologies, ways of doing things, risks,
and opportunities so the team can stay at the leading edge of the possible

Basic Qualifications Basic Qualifications

We are continually pushing the envelope on new ideas, confronting new
challenges, and moving quickly to empower Disney | ABC with data. To meet
the challenges of our mission, you will need the following basic
qualifications for this role.



Technical

•    6+ years of professional experience focusing on data related
technologies, business intelligence, data warehousing

•    Very Large database (VLDB) experience with complex data sets in
multiple relational databases such Netezza, Vertica, or Exadata

•    Hands-on involvement analyzing and modeling complex data sets

•    Utilize tools such as ERwin to deliver conceptual, logical, and
physical data models

•    Knowledge of Extract Transform and Load (ETL) and Extract Load and
Transform (ELT) development process

•    Strong SQL and knowledge of relational/NoSql databases

•    SQL tuning experience and understanding of database optimizer plans

•    Proficiency in at least one JVM-based programming language such as
Java, Scala

•    Expertise in distributed systems, scalability, availability, and/or
application development frameworks

•    Experience designing and developing J2EE applications using Spring,
Hibernate/IBatis, and JMS using JVM-based languages (Java/Scala/Groovy)

•    Experience of developing highly scalable REST API services on Java
platforms and open source technologies

•    Experience of developing responsive web application and interfaces
with html/JavaScript/JQuery UI frameworks such as Angular JS, Backbone,
ExtJS

•    Experience deploying applications on J2EE application servers, load
testing, and clustering

•    Hands-on experience of Test Driven Development, separation of concerns
and other design best practices to build reusable and maintainable UI and
backend components

•    Hands-on with scripting and using *nix systems

•    Experience using scripting languages, such as Python, Ruby, or Perl,
to manipulate data, develop tools and automate process in UNIX environments

•    Familiar with challenges of large data sets and systems

•    Practice working in an agile software development lifecycle environment

•    Top-notch analytical skills

•    Interested in applying new solutions or products, technical and
non-technical, to existing problems

•    Passionate about using data to solve pressing and/or difficult

team, and their customers

•    Comfortable pushing for more information or detail when prudent

development, such as web applications, desktop applications, middleware,
application security, etc.

•    Use of a web development framework, such as Django or Ruby on Rails

•    Personal or professional experience with open source software

•    You have previously worked in the media or entertainment space

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a field
related to technology.
