Role & Responsibilities
• Application Server Support (Specialist) – L3 Skills
• To perform system administration & specialist Application support of
Application Servers & other Middleware technologies
• Should manage the entire Web environment of client
• Should coordinate with different developers groups and resolver group
for resolving any incident / issue
• Provide technical consultation, facilitation and performance analysis
to application development/Business teams
• Web trends reporting: standard and custom
• Web application consultation
• Web application optimization analysis and recommendations
Skills: Webserver/Appserver Administration
• Should be Proficient in application server administration
• Must have expert Knowledge on Web/App server Design & evaluations,
upgrades, migrations & troubleshooting.
• Clustering and Load balancing of Web/application servers
• Performance tuning of web server / application servers
• Webserver (Apache/ IIS/ iPlanet) administration
• Knowledge on Java & Web Application run time environment
• Knowledge of the J2EE Architectures
• Change and Configuration management
• Deploy Application releases on QA and Production environment
• Analyze application Server performance and take necessary action if
required
• Must have Very Good Knowledge in UNIX administration or Windows
administration
• Job also involves interacting with user level 3 support teams in the
area of system administration and Development Team
• Ready to handle all escalations
Technical Skills Required Key skills required: (in the order of
priority)
• Websphere
• IHS
• Apache
• IIS
• SunOne
• Jython
Specific Domain/Technical/Functional skills • Should be well versed
with complex webserver and appserver environment.
• Expert in installation and setup of high end webserver and appserver
architectures.
• Excellent Trouble shouting the problems related with
webserver/appserver configuration issues and performance issues
• Good working knowledge on shell/Perl/Jython scripting
• Capacity planning of the environment
• Expertise in deployment and issues related to deployments.
• Strong trouble shooting skills in web infrastructure environment and
solving problems in a very short time,
• Windows / Unix administration – Level 2
• Should have used a monitoring framework (Site Scope, Symantec I3 ,
Webmetrics )
• Configuration, monitoring & analyzing event, alert logs and
appropriate actions taking-active measures and preventive measure for
problems/errors.
• Meeting SLA in time to fix the errors and problems.
• Incident management
• Problem management
• Change management
• Log monitoring/maintenance
• Should be well versed with the LDAP concept
• Vendor Coordination
