Role & Responsibilities
• Describe short-term and long-term target backup architectures and
recommendations.
• Server / Client installations
• Patching & Up gradation
• Trouble shouting backup issues
• Library & Media management
• Include integrated best-of-breed hardware and software products.
• Create suggested target backup schedule and operational plan.
• Experience in setting up Media retentions & management process
• Experience in resolving performance & capacity Issues
• License management for backup software’s
• Co-ordinate/suggest for renewal of backup hardware with vendor
• Device configuration.
• Configuring disk libraries(CDL)
• Backup , Restore monitoring & Trouble shooting
• Telephonic and Email based User/Vendor Management.
• Documentation skills
• Recovery of Backup Server from failure
• Performing Patching & Up gradation activities
• Ensure all backup jobs are scheduled appropriately and expediently.
• Change Planning and Implementation
Disaster Recovery Support ( plan , participate)
Migration from one Backup tool to another tool
Tape Library Configuration and Administration
Upgrading Versions
Scripting / Automation of Major/ Complex Tasks
Integrating with other tools: Enterprise Management Systems
Optimizing Media Consumption
• Establish Backup and Recovery Procedures for in scope resources.
Required Candidate Profile
(Job Requirements/Descriptions)
• Level-3 Backup & Recovery Administrator
• Should be well versed with backup and recovery planning and
implementation.
• Client installation
• Trouble shouting
• Conduct a formal presentation and basic product functional overview to
familiarize the customer with the current issues and future
recommendations.
• Media Management & Vendor Coordination
• Expertise on CommVault Simpana, IBM TSM & Others
Technical Skills Required Key skills required: (in the order of
priority)
• CommVault Simpana
• Netbackup / Networker / IBM TSM / DP
• Backup & Recovery administration
Specific Domain/Technical/Functional skills
• Should be well versed with backup and recovery planning and
implementation,
• Server / Client installations
• Backup trouble shooting
• Should have used a monitoring framework
• Configuration, monitoring & analyzing event, alert logs and
appropriate actions taking,
• Strong trouble shooting skills in Backup environment and solving
problems in a short time,
• Pro-active measures and preventive measure for problems/errors.
• Should have scripting knowledge.
• Meeting SLA in time to fix the errors and problems.
• Preparing scripting tools for automation.
• Exposure to mid range & high end servers
• Exposure on clustering products
• Vendor coordination
• incident/problem research and management
• Log monitoring/maintenance
• Should be well versed with backup tool implementation.
• Escalation management
• Incident management
• Change management
• Configuration management
• Log monitoring/maintenance
