Activities performed by this group include:* 1. Delivery of all Technology & Development project work 2. Product evaluation and testing 3. Provision of technical expertise to customers in an effort to ensure success of digital deliverables 4. Technical architecture of all internal and external systems associated with solutions provided to all customers 5. Design, development and maintenance of all technical solutions provided to our customers, including databases and applications The Software Engineer handles various programming responsibilities depending on their respective area. The Software Engineer is responsible for the implementation and execution of the technical requirements. The Software Engineer III will be responsible for technical leadership for a defined project during requirements, design, construction, and transition. Technical responsibilities include requirements analysis and elaboration, schedule and scope management, architectural design review, design modelling, code construction, QA and deployment consultation, documentation and support. Responsible for consultation, support and mentoring of other engineering staff. Also responsible for driving internal and customer-based initiatives, providing detailed status and issue escalation to management, providing root cause analysis and complete problem resolution and delivery for entire modules across multiple developers. Will be responsible for continued mentoring and coaching of junior engineers both on the project and general development staff. *Essential Responsibilities and Deliverables:* *Function Specific:* 1. Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications. 2. Supports and/or installs software applications. 3. Assist in development of training programs and materials 13. Adhere to structured development environment while able to adapt to periodic high pressure scenarios 14. Assist in project sizing, project plans, technical evaluations, timelines and risk analysis 15. Assist in resource identification and monitoring 16. Support the organization with research initiatives to improve stability, extensibility, flexibility and performance of Harte-Hanks systems and products *Supervision:* 1. Typically works under some supervision from Technical Lead and/or Technology Manager *Critical Working Relationships:* 1. The Software Engineer collaborates with the Technology Managers, Technical Leads and Senior Software Engineers to understand the functional business requirements dictated by the client and develop an appropriate solution that satisfies the client’s needs. 2. The Software Engineer may collaborate with Technology Managers, Technical Leads and Technology Architects on a technical approach to a solution that satisfies the client’s needs. 3. The Software Engineer will report directly to the Tech Lead and may liaise with their counterparts on other teams and in other CoEs. *Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:* *Experience/Knowledge/Skills:* 1. 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area 2. Sound understanding of relational database design and N-tier architecture 3. Technical skills across platforms, including Unix, Windows, SQL Server 4. Knowledge of methods for quality assurance and usability testing for information systems 5. Understanding of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle and process methodologies 6. Strong oral and written communication skills 7. High Level proficiency in programming skills with experience in SQL and SSIS / ETL. 8. High level of proficiency and experience with performance optimization 9. High level of understanding of client/server technologies and concepts, and their application to and effect on application development 10. Experience with one or more programming languages, MySQL, Amazon AWS – Redshift, Netezza are a plus. 11. Experience with Java, C#, Python, shell scripting and NoSQL / Big Data / Hadoop / distributed technologies is a big plus. *Education:* 1.
