*Position: Linux/ Solaris Engineer*
*Location: Fort Worth, TX*
*Duration: 6-12 Months (Contract-to-Hire!!!!)*
*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
This Infrastructure Engineer will work with business analysts to capture
requirements for a wide range of infrastructure technologies. Expertise in
Linux/Solaris, with a solid knowledge and experience with enterprise level
concepts is required. Knowledge should include but not be limited to: high
availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, multi-pathing for HBAs
and NICs, clustering at the OS level, load balancing, WebSphere, tC server
and SAN/NAS technologies. Basic network trouble shooting skills is also
essential.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Will work with business analysts to capture requirements for enterprise
projects, identifying the enterprise infrastructure services required.
• Designing and documenting infrastructure environment in
coordination with other infrastructure and business teams to ensure the
system is secure, highly available and scalable
• Generating estimations of project and operating costs and
delivering to business groups for funding
• Contractual analysis of enterprise infrastructure services for
projects
• Working with other enterprise infrastructure teams to deliver
enterprise services to the businesses
• Working with service providers of data centers to deploy new
solutions
• Creating documentation for requirements, architectural designs,
engineering drawings and diagrams, as well as operational installation
(run-books) to deliver infrastructure services for projects
• Managing multiple projects, working in collaboration with a
diverse group of business and technology partners to identify and analyze
project requirements
• Working hand in hand with project managers, engineers,
administrators, and customers to deliver projects on time and in budget
• Exploring and staying abreast of new technologies that can bring
value to the organization
• Translating business needs into actionable deliverables
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or
relevant field, or equivalent experience
• 6-8 years’ experience is required. RHEL 5 or 6 is a must and
Solaris 10 or 11 experiences is preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise with enterprise infrastructure technologies
such as high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery,
multi-pathing for HBAs and NICs, clustering at the OS level, load
balancing, WebSphere, tC server and SAN/NAS, and basic network knowledge
• Experience with Data Center managed service providers
• Capability to lead both technical and non-technical discussions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both peer engineers and
leadership teams
• Excellent team player. Willing to share knowledge and cross train
team members
• Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and coordinate teams to
resolve root cause
• Ability to manage stressful situations and adapt to changing
environments
• Strong problem solving skills, can exercises independent judgment
with minimal direction from supervisor
• Strong documentation skills, the ability to follow the procedure
according to the IT policy and to maintain documentation
