Thanks, I tried it locally as you said and it worked but when I try to
create a new instance on my Linux box I still get the 24965 error even
though I specify a Linux OS user.

Why doens't it work when I try to install an instance on a remote machine?

Hello,
I think you want to install a new "instance" localy, if so, then you
have to give just a name for the new "instance" and click the "Next>"
button.
See attachment for more information.

Good luck!

Solaiman

I'm new to SAP DB and was wondering how do you create a new instance
using the Database Manager GUI client?

I start up the wizard and enter the necessary information but it fails
with error number 24965 (some sort of login error). I used the DBA, DBM
and DOMAIN users but nothing worked, what am I doing wrong? I know that
I can use the command line based tool to create the instance but I
thought that the Databaase Manager GUI could do that also.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
