Works! Removing instance, and recreating (and setting to restore from
another database), all configurations has worked. After restoring backup, I
just select restart (as pointed by DBM Gui), and all are working fine now...

I've not lost anything.

Very, very thanks!

the db identifier looks for instance like "p47579:DB72_20011112_113457". It
contains the computer name, the db name and the date of the last
install/reinstall.

With every install/reinstall you delete your log devspace and simply start
with an empty database or recover a complete backup (and maybe matching
incremental and log backups). It is not possible to mix backups with
different db identifier because a combination of these backups would not
make sense.

So in your situation (-8003) you have to decide between the following two
possibilities:

1. If you need to keep your log entries, find a complete backup with a
matching db identifier (a newer complete backup) and use it.

2. If you do not need to keep your log entries, but need the data from your
old backup, get rid of your old log by reinstalling the complete database
(DBMGUI->"Install...", read carefully, choose "Restore instance" in step 7
of 8).

>What is the way for someone to migrate from one database name to another...

Keep in mind if you install a db and bring it to mode WARM, some log entries
are generated for that restart, so changing it back to mode COLD and trying
a restore will always fail, as all backups will never match to these log
entries. Choosing "Restore instance" in the installation wizard does mainly
prevent a start of the db into WARM directly after the install and therefore
allows what you are looking for (the usage of a backup from another db).

Best regards,
Tilo
