Hi! I've found out, that a database-instance can be up to 32TB (256 datadevspaces * 128GB - operating system dependend). The filesize of one file under Linux was/is (upto kernel version 2.4) limited to 2GB. With kernel 2.4 you can manage files upto some TB (but only with different kernel-functions). Does SAP DB use the new kernel-functions for large files under linux?
And how do I backup such a large database (32TB is quite large and SAP DB can manage only up to 32 backup-devices [in my case files] for each backup-media-group)? At the moment I can only backup databases which aren't bigger than 64GB (32 * 2GB). Thanks a lot!
