Hi,
we got all our testsystems on 1 maschine (test, ides, crm, bw, apo) with
SuSE Enterprice, SAPDB 7.3.0.15, 6 GB RAM, and 3ware HD-controller with 8
disk of 60 GB. 6 were packed in an raid 5, 1 is spare, 1 is for the logs. We
got 1 year old scsi-maschines, but with less RAM und smaller CPU, so we
can't realy compare the systems. A mandant copy takes on the ide-maschine 35
sec. more. The cpu-worklob is never gone on both maschines to 100% during
mandanten copy.
Form our point of view there is no need for scsi on not prod systems.

Not necessarily. I've had good results with 3Ware controllers.
Sure, it's IDE but that's also why it's affordable <g>.
And still hardware.
