If I understand right, the client runs on Win and connects to the
Linux box. Some time ago, this or a similar problem was discussed in the
list.
IIRC, the solution was to add the db-server ip into the win /etc/hosts.
Probably, there must be a more sensible solution, how to resolve hostnames
fast on Win. Maybe you check the mail archive
(http://sapdb.2scale.net/moin.cgi).

Please provide me with more information about this (e.g. a small
