The question here is: Are you using the SAP DB as an APO DB or liveCache
or both :-)?

about a liveCache instance. This forum is usually ment for the SAP DB as
a SQL database. The liveCache funtionality is not open by now, but may
be in the future :-).

Nevertheless ....

Would be interesting, where you red this. Maybe it was in a document
about the next generation liveCache 7.4 which is more like a complete
database with full logging for objects and SQL transactions. Then you
need more LOG area than in the 7.2 liveCache.

In general - as it is the same for all instance types of the SAP DB - it
is not possible to shrink DEVSPACEs directly. It is only possible with
the detour of a system copy with a backup and a 'Instance -> Install'
afterwards to the same liveCache SID. With the 'Instance -> Install' the
database with its areas is created new (you can change here nealy
everything e.g. locations, sizes ...) and has to be restored afterwards.

Please have a look into the SAP notes where this procedure is described
in detail. Usually it doesn't last a long time to do this change when
you are familiar with the proceeding.

Ciao Ralf
