Hi Stephen

Actually there are two kinds of trace files: the driver manager trace, where ODBC-API calls are traced, and
the SAP DB ODBC 'internal' trace, where some information which are exchanged between the driver and
the data base kernel are traced.

The first one belongs to the driver manager and therefore under Windows to the OS. It is started/stopped
via the Control Panel -> Admin -> ODBC Data Sources: Tab strip "Tracing".

The second one is controlled via the "Configure" Button (e.g. Tab strip "User DSN"):
Configure -> Settings -> Flag: "Trace SQL Commands" on/off.

This setting is stored in the registriy (e.g. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\V73ASC\TraceFileName).

If there is no TraceFileName specified, no tracing will be done (i.e. if necessary, the key can be deleted manually).

Subject: Windows XP Professional + SAPDB 7.3, ODBC Tracing problems

My development workstation had been working great in every regard but one...

ODBC Tracing will not turn off!  I turn it off, but the file is still being generated.  Even multiple reboots.

I also had a heck of a time getting it to turn on!

I'm activating it via the normal ODBC control panel "Tracing" tab.  I can't find any other reports of this problem on the Internet, so I'm suspecting it may have something to do with SAPDB?  I'm just grasping at straws.

Anyway - if anyone else has seen these, please reply.

Thanks.

  Stephen
