There is a tricky thing to know.
This is a sample, working /etc/odbcinst.ini:
- --------------
[SapDB]
Description             = SapDB 7.3
Driver          = /usr/sapdb/depend/lib/libsqlod.so
Setup           = /usr/lib/libsapdbS.so.1.0.0
FileUsage               = 1
CPTimeout               =
CPReuse         =
- -----------
This is a sample /etc/odbc.ini
[RENO]
Description             = SapDB
Driver          = SapDB
ServerNode              = pc2
ServerDB                = DATA
- -----------
You will have to link /etc/odbc.ini into the /usr/spool/sql/ini Dir.
cd /usr/spool/sql/ini
ln -s /etc/odbc.ini .

Mostly the /usr/spool dir location is very old fashioned and hurts Linux
Filesystem Standard 2, but the SAP-DB builds from SAP are requiring this.
PErhaps a link in /usr should be created:
cd /usr
ln -s /var/spool

After that, it works with OpenOffice in Linux like a charm.

After that you can use unixODBC just out of the box. PErhaps the new
Packages are working in elder Systems also.

By the way, is anybody out there who created a unixODBC from the
downloaded sources including the "Driver" Support for Sap-DB ?
Especially, it makes me problems to create a working Setup Shared Object:
/usr/lib/libsapdbS.so.1.0.0 for SAP-DB.
