Sir: I also run SapDB on solaris, in a very similiar configuration. I also had some issues with slow connect times. The problem in my case was caused by the ip's and hostnames of the client machines not being in the servers /etc/hosts table. Sapdb on unix apparently does a name lookup on anyone that connects. Your 150ms response time sounds like the same problem. Make sure every ip that connects to the server is in it's /etc/hosts table and you should see a very noticeable performance increase.
