Hi there,

I've a newbie question whose answer I can't find in the FAQs. Please pardon
me if it was there and I missed it.

I have a free software project I want to undertake that will have a two-tier
architecture, and for which I'd like to use SAPDB. Using the database as
standalone, though, would push things into a 3-tier setup that will be too
complicated for the target user-base.

Is it possible to embed the DBMS into a program I write? I understand that
the resulting binary will be huge, and that's ok. A single huge binary is
much easier for the the non-technical audience to install than getting the
DBMS up and running first, then installing the application.

I presume if it can be done, that I would need to do some extra hoop-jumping
so far as the specification of tablespaces and such are concerned when the
application is installed; is this easy to do?

References to any FAQs on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

James
