The use of a CREATE SEQUENCE is very complicated, as i have to use one sequence per Table, or one for the whole database, which makes the number grow very fast. I also have to use the Sequence on every INSERT statement (and i cannot be sure, that the value of the column doesn't change, right?) The other option is, to use DEFAULT SERIAL which was my favourite, until i read, that i cannot get the value that was used. Is this solved in SAPDB 7.3? Is a patch planned?
