Hi,
we just threw away the installed SuSe kernel and got standard 2.4 sources and
built it from scratch which has solved almost all of the problems. database
stop, initialisation and backup restoration takes only a fraction of the time
it took with the SuSe kernel. Write performance for our little insert-test
has more than doubled now but is still not great but that might be due to
different hardware (i.e. RAID system compared to standalone SCSI disc).
We will keep investigating and keep the list informed.
Anyone out there working with debian? after having run into more and more
oddities in SuSe we are probably going to give that a shot in the near
future.
Regards,
Robert
