Have a look in the knldiag file. A -8003 error writes some details into it.
Perhaps it is a good idea to send dbm.utl, dbm.prt and the knldiag.

Subject: DB migration

I did a consistent backup of database A's data files.

I then initialized the devspaces of database B. (util_execute INIT CONFIG)

I then restored database B using database A's backup.

When I try to start the database I receive a -8003 (log and data area must be compatible.)

Can someone please tell me what steps I am missing?

Or, is there a way to remove the old log devspace?
