SAP DB had this, but due to lack of applications using it, support for it has been 
removed at the SQL level. And there are currently no plans to support it when the data 
access level gets reimplemented. But if you have the killer application for this 
feature,  describe it at
http://sapdb.2scale.net/moin.cgi/FeatureEnhanceProposals (title 'Random Access to 
LONG'), maybe this changes our plans. But please describe it in application terms 
(e.g. addressing subtrees of large XML documents, building a network file system, ...)
