I had this problem too, but I fixed it with a few steps (Windows 2000 Pro). BACKUP Complete. Location has to include the filename too. I think the name field is only a label, not a filename. Name: TEST Location: D:\TEMP\BACKUP.BAK I did also change the user for the service that was running the database kernel. But I don't know if this step is necessary. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services Choose SapDB: <databasename> and select Properties.
