Sorry for not being clear but I was running the backup from the GUI. How
would I run it using dbmcli?

that is operating-system dependent.
But calling dbmcli with a script file should work anyway. Under unix/linux,

you may use a cron job for that (I do so, and it runs every night for
several
months without any problem), under windows, you may have to check the
scheduler.
