hi folks,

i got the impression that the sap-db is almost (if not totally) the same
rdbms as the good old ADABAS-D 11. some parameters and/or limits seemed to
be lifted, but i didn't check them all till now.

however, this leads to the following questions:
-----------------------------------------------
- is sap-db 7.x identical to ADABAS-D 11 ?

- is sap-db a subset or a superset of ADABAS-D 11 ?

- is software-ag supporting ADABAS-D any longer or is sap-db the successor
of ADABAS-D 11

- wich are the main differences from the users side of view (i.e.
handling, hardware demands)?

from the developers view:
-------------------------
- seems like the embedded sql for sap-db is the same as the adabas-d
embed.-sql. could one reuse already written embedded sql for adabas-d
for sap-db ?

- wich differences -if any known- are to look out for between adabas
and sap-db development (as an application developer USING sap-db, NOT
as an sap-db developer) ?

- wich are the main differences from the developers side of view
(development turn around, other or more tools, complications) ?

i'am very interested in any information, since i'am developing c++
applications using adabas-d approx. since 1996.

thanks in advance

Andreas Bohn
