Now its working. It seems it was the User Address Space Size has to be 3Gb in
the kernel config.
Thanks Joerg!

Asunto: RE: kernel exited with '2297' before reaching COLD state
Hi Rafael,
to help you the information contained in 'knldiag' is needed. If not even 'knldiag'
exists or its content is from a previous start attempt, try to start the kernel from
command line
kernel DBNAME
where DBNAME is the name of the database instance you created before. Some error
informations (especially parameter problems) are written before knldiag is created (
fixed with 7.3.0build29 ).
Please make sure you just replaced the kernel executable in an otherwise running
environment to further reduce the possible error sources. '2297' could also mean that
the kernel image was not executable (at least not by the creator of the database).

Subject: kernel exited with '2297' before reaching COLD state
Hi.
Linux SUSE 8.0
Kernel 2.4.18
sapdb 7.3.0.20-45 and older releases
With the standard kernel supplied on the SUSE CD,s, sapdb works!
But with any kernel I build, no matter the options, I get the error
-24994 ERR_RTE runtime environment error 1, kernel exited with '2297'
before reaching COLD state.
Strangely, the user sapdb can create and attach shared memory segments under
the standard kernel, but not under any of my built kernels.
I have tried everything that I've found, (/etc/sysctl.conf, setuserids, etc) but I
have not been
able to make it work
I'd appreciate any ideas.
