thanks, for your example, but i have another server with the same problems.
I generate a in dbmgui a backup-medium with name backup001 on the
path"E:\backup\sapdb" with name "backup001" the filesize is 12500 kB. This
information was displayed in dvmgui under menuitem "backup". the rights of
the directory E:\backup\sapdb is everyone. the service "XServer" and the
database started under the rights "administrator". when i doubleclick in
dbmgui the file the 903 error will displayed. In the file krnldiagerr
displaed the error-message "Wrong file or device name
'e:\backup\sapdb\back001'" what make i false? i dont understand the
error-messages.

thanks Thomas

Hi,

I'm not sure what the specific reason is but keep in mind that although you
specify everything in the DBM GUI (or DBMCLI) the actual actions will
effectively be executed by the NT services "XServer" and the Database
Service "SAPDB <name>". So whatever file path you specify has to be
accessible by the user those services run with on the NT machine they run
on.

For example, if you specify a network path on your domain the default "local
system" user they run with will most likely not be able to access this path
and you get the -903 error. You would have to change the user these services
run with with one from the domain for example. The same applies of course to
filesystem rights and network drives etc.

Of course, if you i.e. specify a local path on the machine you run DBM GUI
on for a backup medium and the server is running on a different machine it
won't work either and you get the same error.

Hope this helps,

Watz
