Hi again, Today, for my test purposes I tried to create a 1 to 1 copy of my SAP DB instance. Using DBM GUI seemed to be the simplest way to me. And I did so. I created complete backup (for migration) on my source instance (Red Hat, SAP DB 7.3.0.29), then copied it to the destination server (Win 2000 AS, SAP DB 7.3.0.29) and tried to install a new instance with the option "Restore parameters from a backup medium". I added this backup to my mediums list, but whenever i try to go for the next step I receive following error: -24994 runtime environment error [service_connect]
So, I took a look at my knldiag files, and the only error I have found is: ERR 18431 MESSAGES Could not write to event log, rc=1717. Maybe someone has already solved it?? And I'sure, in the version 7.3.0.25 there was no problem with it, because it sometimes happened to my to do it and it worked perfectly. Fortunately, there is no problem with restoring data from backup after manually setting instance parameters. Kind Regards, Marcin Pytel TALEX S.A.
