The last thing was the important in this case.
1. SQLStudio uses ODBC
2. ODBC uses a special date_and_time_format specified by ODBC
3. the kernel knows different date_and_time_formats for internal mode,
for Oracle mode (using the date_and_time_format specified by Oracle)
and the format needed for ODBC.
This together brings much 'pleasure' to the implementation.
And in this case it is the reason for a bug
which will be fixed with 7.3.0.33/ 7.4.3.11.
To make your work possible with SQLStudio:
use SQLMODE Oracle and
to_date (a, 'dd.mm.yyyy') > '<compare_value>'
where <compare_value> IN THIS CASE has to look like an
Oracle-date-value, for example:
to_date (a, 'dd.mm.yyyy') > '24-DEC-02'
(But, please: only use the column-name in the output-list
of the select, no TO_DATE(a), that would result in the
datetimefield_overflow again)
