I'm new to SAPDB, so maybe this is a trivial one:
I had no problems in installing SAPDB 7.4 beta (suppose the OLTP profile)
from sapdb-all-win-32bit-i386-7_4_3_7beta.zip under Windows 2000 SP2 and
running the Database Manager and SQL Studio against it. Btw: looks great -
enterprise grade. SAPDB deserves much more attention.
Now to my problem: I'm wondering how to install a liveCache variant. Any
help
is appreciated:
1) The "Installation Guide" for SAP DB 7.4 speaks of unpacking different
files
depending on the instance type desired:
"For the SAP DB OLTP database instance type, choose
SAPDB<version>_<build>.<sar|tgz>
For the liveCache database instance type (SAP APO System), choose
LC<version>A<apoversion>_<combuild>.sar"
Well, I can only find above .zip .. so is the installation guide simply
outdated or am I just blind?
2) Next, the guide suggests to run "SDBINST.exe" and to select the desired
instance type:
"Choose the installation profile by entering the appropriate profile ID.
Server for the SAP DB OLTP database instance type
APO LiveCache for the liveCache database instance type (for the SAP APO
System)"
But from the menu sdbinst.exe spills out I can't see those options:

I've chosen "5" here, but when I'm locking under tab "Information" in the
Database Manager, the info links "OMS Caches", "OMS Monitor" and "OMS Class
containers" are disables (grey). So I don't have a liveCache right?
3) Lastly, the guide suggests to
"For the installation profile APO LiveCache only: Install the software
package APO COM"
Again I can't find this package.
I'm lost, please help!
Thanks,
Tobias
